Significant progress has been made in rural sanitation in Sierra Leone in recent years using Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS). However studies have indicated that toilet usage may not be sustained over time, as the toilets made from local materials may quickly fall into disrepair. The Ministry of Health & Sanitation, together with the International NGO Goal has piloted Sanitation Marketing in a rural area in the east of the country, to promote more durable sanitation products through developing the customer base, product range and private sector supply. This video summarises the approach and lessons learned from this initial pilot in the sector.
