Plastic waste is a major issue in Sierra Leone, and the rate of recycling is very limited in comparison to it’s potential.

This 5 minute film shows various ways to convert waste plastic into products that can be locally produced such as paving slabs, plastic weaving, and handbags. The film is based on ‘waste to wealth’ interventions of two WASH Facility funded projects in Sierra Leone.

This film is likely to be of interest -in those working on solid waste in Sierra Leone, also organisations interested in setting up income generating projects in urban contexts. It may be of interest to the general public of Sierra Leone, to encourage people to replicate these business ideas themselves.

This film is part of a 3-part series – the other two covering what can be done with organic waste, and metal/rubber waste.
